Blood tests you can order yourself in New Jersey
New Jersey is one of three states that regulate consumer-ordered lab testing more tightly than the rest, and vendors handle it differently: 7 of the 27 we track will not sell to you there at all, 11 will but with a condition worth knowing about, and 9 serve it the same as anywhere else.

Fitomics Labs
Stated as available in all 50 states. New York and New Jersey customers are routed to BioReference, which is the most expensive of the three lab options on nearly every test — expect to pay more there.

Function Health
Their FAQ answers it directly: "Function is offered in 2,000+ Quest labs across 48 states (but not yet Rhode Island, Hawai'i, or Puerto Rico)." Read 2026-08-01. Their pricing footnote separately says the prepaid lab access excludes New York and New Jersey, so those two are sold but may cost more — that is a pricing caveat rather than an exclusion, and it is not reflected in the price here. Arizona needs two lab visits rather than one.

Goodlabs
Available nationwide, but New York and New Jersey customers must use BioReference — Quest and Labcorp do not serve consumers directly in those states. BioReference is the more expensive option, so NY and NJ pay more rather than being blocked. Rhode Island status is not stated on their site.

HealthLabs does not state any state restrictions on their own site — we checked the homepage, FAQ and lab finder. Third-party reviews claim NY, NJ and RI are excluded, but we could not confirm that from HealthLabs, so it is not listed here as fact. Confirm at checkout if you are in one of those states.

Hundred Health
Hundred publishes two exclusion lists rather than one. In-lab draws are unavailable in RI, HI, WY, ND and SD (and in Guam, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa and the Northern Marianas); in-home phlebotomy is unavailable in RI, WA, ID, MT, WY, ND, SD, NE, VT and HI. The list above is the intersection — the five states with no draw option at all. WA, ID, MT, NE and VT members can still test in-lab. New York and New Jersey are served, but state regulations add a lab fee of up to $248 a year charged directly by the lab. Taken from their FAQ on 2026-07-30.

Sold in all 50 states, but New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Hawaii and Arizona cannot use a Quest patient service center — those states are required to take the mobile phlebotomist option, which costs $119 on top of the price. Five states therefore pay more rather than being blocked. Canada is served; insulin is not testable there.

Request A Test does not publish an exclusion list for blood testing. Their own state directory covers 46 states and has no page for New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island or Hawaii, which is the same set their competitors exclude by regulation. Stated as an inference rather than as their claim, because they have not made the claim.

Labcorp selling directly to consumers, so the draw happens at the same Labcorp site your doctor would send you to and the result lands in the same system. Panels are conventional — CMP, CBC, lipids, HbA1c — with none of the advanced cardiac or metabolic markers the specialist vendors lead on.

At-home collection kits across sexual health, hormones and general wellness. The wellness panels are small — three or four markers each — so compare them on what they measure rather than on the kit price alone.

The only vendor here testing infants and children as well as adults, which is the reason to choose it — the baby and child kits use age-specific reference ranges rather than scaling an adult report down. Every kit includes a results review session with a microbiome specialist, held in a small group.

Sequences RNA rather than DNA, so the report describes what gut microbes are actively doing rather than which are present. Results are health scores and food recommendations, not blood biomarkers, so Viome's panels cannot be compared to a blood test on marker count.

Empirical Health
Empirical Health publishes a list of 29 states holding its 2,200+ testing locations; the states above are the ones absent from that list — 29 listed plus 22 here accounts for all 50 states and DC. They are not stated as excluded by the vendor — this is read from where testing is offered, so confirm your own state before buying. New York is absent despite the company being based there. Delaware was missing from this list until 2026-08-07, when the 29 names were counted against the 51 and came up one short: it had been rendering as served while Empirical listed no site there.

Marek Health
Quest cannot serve Marek's orders in New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island, and Hawaii and the US territories are excluded as well. A US driver's licence or state ID is required at the draw. Taken from their FAQ on 2026-07-30. Massachusetts is listed here on a different basis: Marek's own refund policy warns that residents of NY, NJ, MA and RI may be unable to complete a draw under state billing rules, and that a refund is not guaranteed when that happens — and web sales cannot be cancelled at all. A state where the order may fail and the money may not come back is one this site will not send a reader to.

Their terms exclude New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island by state regulation. Their help centre also suggests Hawaii is out for want of a draw site, but that page could not be loaded to confirm, so Hawaii is not listed here.

Ulta Lab Tests
Their FAQ answers it directly: "Ulta Lab Tests offers testing services to residents of almost all states except the three where direct access testing is prohibited by law - New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island." Read 2026-08-07 in a browser — the answer sits inside a collapsed accordion that plain HTTP clients never see, which is why this stood as an unverified third-party claim until now.
