Who it suits

Someone testing a thyroid they already have reason to worry about, rather than someone taking a broad look at their health. Paloma sells one kit and a hypothyroidism practice around it, and the kit is the only one here that measures TSH, both free hormones and TPO antibodies together. If you want a single number to screen with, cheaper TSH-only tests exist; if you want the antibodies, this is the specialist.

How ordering works

"Every Paloma Health test is ordered by a doctor." It is a "Finger-prick test" that "Only takes a few minutes", and "A physician will also review your results before they are returned". Paloma states the wait as "Expect your results in one week after receiving your sample." The kit page says nothing about whether return shipping is prepaid.

What to watch for

Paloma publishes two different membership prices, and the one attached to the kit discount is not the one in its FAQ. The membership FAQ says "Paloma Health offers one membership option at $240 per year" — "$20/month billed annually" — and that "Members pay $60 for each doctor visit"; it states no number of kits or visits included. The membership block on the kit page quotes $65 a month, with two blood tests and two virtual consultations a year, and kits at $75 against a $99 list. Do the arithmetic on the plan you are actually shown at checkout. Paloma serves 46 states: New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island are excluded.
